If you can’t tell I am incredibly passionate about preventing disease and researching the best ways to do this. Why? Well mostly because I’ve watched my mom with MS for over 20 years, the last year in a very progressive state. She is unable to drive which means that my dad and I must take her to her appointments.
One of her last appointments was at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. I have been to this clinic many times over the years and what ceases to amaze me every time is how many cars are there. And it makes me sad. Because most likely that car belongs to the family of someone suffering from cancer, MS or another neurological disorder. They are most likely suffering from something serious. Hundreds of cars in one lot. Hundreds of different tests and appointments taking place.
I started thinking…Wouldn’t it be amazing if there were this many cars parked outside of a health and fitness studio? What if instead of trying to treat disease, those people were trying to prevent it? Now I’m not saying that working out and eating right will completely stop diseases. But it’s been well proven that food is an amazing source of medicine. Exercise helps prevent many debilitating conditions, helps one stay physically and mentally fit and helps ward off obesity. Together, you have an amazing combo of fighting off Mayo Clinic or other doctors for yourself.
What prevents most of us from attaining our goals is that we don’t even know where to start. There are so many exercise programs out there and so many diets. It’s overwhelming and it’s confusing. With just that, it’s hard to even get motivated to figure it out, so many give up. But here’s a little secret…It shouldn’t be that hard. And it should be rewarding. It might even become fun!
The best results are found by finding a coach. You can decide to work one on one with someone or you can build a small group of friends. When you work with Pilates Plus we will find you a coach that works best for you. I have a knack for picking out coaches and trainers that fit everyone’s unique personality. And if you want, I would love to personally work with you. If you choose to work with me every workout is different and I also will help devise meal plans that work best for your body. As a certified nutritionist, we are taught that what works for one person might not work for another. So, it’s our job to design a specialized plan just for you.
With the variety of equipment, we have at the studio you’ll never be bored. And with a max of 8 people per class, no matter what, you’ll get some pretty great one on one attention. I personally recommend private sessions, duets or trios though if you’d like faster results, at least 2 times a week, 3 times ideally.
Of course, everyone’s first though when it comes to eating healthy and working out with a coach is the cost. Ultimately though when you think of what the long-term costs could be, investing in yourself now really is the best thing you could do. And Pilates is tax deductible! Bet you didn’t know that! But it is in most situations.
