Without a doubt if you consistently practice Pilates (3-4 times a week), you will gain strength in your entire body that you never thought possible. And with this strength comes a strength in your mind and your thoughts that you never imagined. Things that used to put you into drama mode now don't seem as bad because you know that your body is strong. And your mind is a part of that body. So you can conquer anything!
Building up the core is an essential part of Pilates. Everything that you do in Pilates consists of building a strong core. You begin to realize that every move you make in your daily life is from the core. And this makes sense as it is the center of our bodies. With a strong core comes awesome balance. Balance again that not only includes our bodies but rolls over into our daily lives.
With Pilates you learn how to activate and control that core. You also begin to feel different things in your body that you never noticed before. One side of your body begins to feel heavier than the other. You can feel when your hips are out of balance or you can feel when something "just isn't right". And you begin noticing how each of those imbalances affects other areas of the body. Pilates is total mind/body awareness. And once you feel the connection Pilates makes with the body, you will want to know what else you can do. You want to know what else your body is capable of.
The body and the mind are truly amazing things. Often times we don't challenge ourselves to push past our comfort zones or our fears. But I promise, once you do, you'll find a strength on the inside and outside of your body you always dreamt of.
